AΩ Zechariah 9.9 (487 BC)
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O
daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is
just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the
foal of an ass.
John 12.12.
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard
that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13. Took branches of palm trees, and went forth
to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
JESUS Sends the
Disciples to Borrow a Donkey
Matthew 21. 1.
[1]And
when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem,
and were come to Bethphage[2] ,
unto the mount of Olives, then sent JESUS two disciples,[3]
AΩ
2. Saying unto them, Go into the
village over against you, and straightway ye shall find a donkey[4]
tied, and a colt with her (whereon [5]never
man sat) : loose them, and bring them unto me.
3. And if any man say ought unto you, (Why[6] do
ye loose him )ye shall say, The LORD hath need of them; and straightway he will
send them.
4. All this was done, that it might be
fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
AΩ
5. Tell ye the daughter of Sion,
(Fear not, daughter of Sion)[7]
Behold, thy King cometh unto thee[8],
meek, and sitting upon a donkey, and a colt the he-foal of a donkey.[9]
Matthew 21. 6.
And the disciples went, and did as JESUS commanded them…
Mark 11.4.
And they went their way, and found the colt[10]
tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
5. And certain of them that stood there said
unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?
Mark 11.6.
And they said unto them even as JESUS had commanded: and they let them go.
7. And they brought the colt to JESUS, and cast their
garments on him; and he sat upon him.
(Matthew
21.7 they set him thereon.)
The Multitude Cries Hosanna
to the SON of David
Matthew 21.
8. And a very great multitude
spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the (palm[11]) trees[12],
and strawed them in the way.
AΩ
9. And the multitudes that went before,
and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the SON of David: Blessed is he
that cometh in the name of the LORD;[13]
( Blessed be
the Kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name
of the LORD)[14]
Hosanna in the highest.
John 12.12.
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard

went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the LORD.
Luke 19. 36.
And as He went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37. And when He was come nigh, even now at the
descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to
rejoice and praise GOD with a loud voice for all the mighty works
that they had seen;
AΩ 38.
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the LORD: peace
in Heaven, and glory in
the highest.
The Disciples Do Not Understand
AΩ
John 12. 16. These things understood
not his disciples at the first: but when JESUS was glorified, then remembered they that
these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17. The people therefore that was with him when
He called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18. For this cause the people also met him, for
that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19. The
Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing?
behold, the world is gone after him.
Pharisees Object
Luke 19.
39. And some of the Pharisees from
among the multitude said unto him, Master[15],
rebuke thy disciples[16].
The Stones Would Praise Him
AΩ
Luke 19.40. And He answered and said
unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would
immediately cry out.
AΩ
Luke 19.41. And when He was come near,
He beheld the city, and wept over it,
42. Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at
least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are
hid from thine eyes.
AΩ Luke 19.43. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast
a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
AΩ 44.
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee;
and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest
not the time of thy visitation[17].[18]

Matthew
21.10-19, Mark 11.12-18, Luke 19.45-48
AΩ Jeremiah 7.11. Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of
robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
Matthew 21. 10.
And when He was come into Jerusalem,
all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11. And the multitude said, This is JESUS the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
AΩ
Mark 11. 15. And they come to Jerusalem[19]:
and JESUS went into the[20]
temple [21],
and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew
the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16. And would not suffer that any man should
carry any vessel through the temple.
17. And He taught, saying unto them, Is it not
written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye
have made it a den of thieves.
AΩ
Matthew 21.14 And the blind and the
lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
Mark
11.18. And the scribes and chief
priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy[22]
him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his
doctrine. (were very attentive to Him)[23]
Matthew 21. 15.
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He
did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the SON of
David; they were sore displeased,
AΩ
16. And said unto him, Hearest thou
what these say? And JESUS saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out
of the mouth of babes and sucklings[24]
thou hast perfected praise?
17. And He left them, and went out of the city
into Bethany; and He lodged there.
Fig
Tree Cursed- Nothing but Leaves
Matthew
21.18. Now in the morning as He
returned into the city, He hungered.
AΩ
19. And when He saw a fig tree in the
way, He came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, (for the time
of figs was not yet)[25]
and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever.
Mark 11. 14
No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
Mark 11.19.
And when even was come, He went out of the city. 20. And in the morning, as they passed by, they
saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
AΩ
Matthew 21.19 And presently the fig
tree withered away. 20. And when the disciples saw it, they
marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
Mark 11. 21.
And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master[26],
behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have
faith in God.
Faith
Moves Mountains, Gets Prayers Answered
AΩ
Matthew 21.21. JESUS answered and said unto them, Verily I say
unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is
done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; (and shall not doubt in his heart , but
shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall
have whatsoever he saith.[27]
) it shall be done.
AΩ 22.
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
receive.[28]
Mark 11. 25.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that
your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your
Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Luke 19. 47.
And He taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes
and the chief (priests[29])
of the people sought to destroy him,
(for they feared Him)[30]
48. And could not find what they might
do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him. ( were astonished at
His doctrine[31])
Some Confess, Some Deny CHRIST
Spring
30 AD, Monday, Jerusalem
John
12.20-50
John 12. 20.
And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the
feast:
21. The same came therefore to Philip, which was
of Bethsaida of Galilee,
and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see JESUS.
22. Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell JESUS.
AΩ
23. And JESUS answered them, saying, The hour is come, that
the SON of man should be glorified.
24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a
corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it
bringeth forth much fruit.
AΩ
John 12. 25. He that loveth his life
shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto
life eternal.
AΩ
26. If any man serve me, let him follow
me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him
will my FATHER honour.
AΩ
John 12. 27. Now is my soul troubled;
and what shall I say? FATHER, save me from this hour[32]:
but for this cause came I unto this hour.
AΩ 28.
FATHER, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from HEAVEN, saying,
I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29. The people therefore, that stood by, and
heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
AΩ 30.
JESUS answered and said, This voice came not
because of me, but for your sakes.
31. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall
the prince of this world be cast out.
AΩ
John 12. 32. And I, if I be lifted
up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33. This He said, signifying what death He
should die.
34. The people answered him, We have heard out
of the law that CHRIST abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The SON of man
must be lifted up? who is this SON of man?
35. Then JESUS said unto them, Yet a little while is the
light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for
he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36. While ye have light, believe in the light,
that ye may be the children of light. These things spake JESUS, and departed, and did
hide himself from them.
37. But though He had done so many miracles
before them, yet they believed not on him:
AΩ
38. That the saying of Esaias the
prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, LORD, who hath believed our report?
and to whom hath the arm of the LORD been revealed?[33]
John 12. 39.
Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
AΩ
40. He hath blinded their eyes, and
hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand
with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them[34].
41. These things said Esaias, when he saw his
glory, and spake of him.
Why Some Believers Do Not Confess CHRIST
Fear of Being Expelled from the Synagogue
John 12.
42. Nevertheless among the chief rulers
also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess
him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
Love of the Praise of Men
John
12.43. For they loved the praise of men
more than the praise of GOD.
AΩ 44.
JESUS cried and said, He that believeth on me,
believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
AΩ 45.
And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
AΩ 46.
I AM come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should
not abide in darkness.
47. And if any man hear my words, and believe
not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
AΩ John 12.48. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that
judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last
day.
AΩ
49. For I have not spoken of myself;
but the FATHER which sent me, He gave me a commandment, what I should say, and
what I should speak.
AΩ
50. And I know that his commandment is
life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the FATHER said unto
me, so I speak.
The
Sanhedrin Challenge JESUS:
JESUS Challenges Them
Spring,
30 AD, Monday, Jerusalem
Matthew
21. 23- 22.14, Mark 11.27- 12.12, Luke 20.19
Isaiah 5. 1.
Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his
vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: 2. And he fenced it, and gathered out the
stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the
midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should
bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
The Sanhedrin Challenge JESUS' Authority
Mark 11.
27. And they come again to Jerusalem:
and as He was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and
the scribes, and the elders,
28. And say unto him, [35]By
what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority[36]
to do these things?[37]
Matthew
21.24. And JESUS answered and said unto them, I also will ask
you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what
authority[38] I do these
things.[39]
25. The baptism of John, whence was it? from
Heaven, [40]or of men?[41]
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From Heaven; he
will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe[42]
him?[43]
26. But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the
people[44];
for all hold John as a prophet.[45]
27. And they answered JESUS, and said, We
cannot tell.[46] And He said
unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority[47]
I do these things.[48]
Parable
of the Two Sons Confronts the Sanhedrin with Their Rejection of the
Truth
Matthew 21. 28.
But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first,
and said, son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29. He answered and said, I will not: but
afterward he repented, and went.
30. And he came to the second, and said
likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
AΩ 31.
Whether of them twain did the will of his father ? They say unto him,
The first. JESUS saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That
the publicans and the harlots go into the Kingdom of GOD before you.
32. For John came unto you in the way of
righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots
believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye
might believe him.
The
Wicked Husbandmen Depicts the Sanhedrin
Matthew[49]
21.33. Hear another parable: There was
a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and
digged a winepress [50]in
it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far
country (for a long time)[51]:
Matthew
21.34. And when the time of the fruit
drew near (at the season) [52],
he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of
it.[53]
35. And the husbandmen took his servants, and
beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.[54]
(and sent
him away empty).
Mark 12. 4.[55] And again he sent unto them another servant;
and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away
shamefully handled[56].
5. And again he sent another; and him they
killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
Mark 12. 6.
Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved[57],
he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.[58]
7. But those husbandmen said among themselves,
This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.[59]
8. And they took him, and killed him, and cast
him out of the vineyard.[60]
9. What shall therefore the lord of the
vineyard do?[61] he will
come and (miserably) [62]
destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. (which shall
render him the fruits in their seasons. )[63]
Luke 20.16. And when they heard it, they said, GOD forbid.
The
Stone Which the Builder's Rejected
AΩ
Matthew 21. 42. JESUS saith unto them, Did ye never read in the
Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected[64],
the same is become the head of the corner:[65]
this is the LORD'S doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?[66]
AΩ
43. Therefore say I unto you, The
Kingdom of GOD shall be taken from you, and given to a
nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
AΩ 44.
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever
it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.[67]
45. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had
heard his parables, they perceived that He spake of them.[68]
46. But when
they sought to lay hands on him,[69]
they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Mark 12.12 and they left him, and went their way.
Invitation
to the Marriage Feast-
Go
Out into the Highways and Hedges
Matthew 22. 1.
And JESUS answered and spake unto them again by
parables, and said,
AΩ 2.
The Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a certain king, which
made a marriage for his son,
3. And sent forth his servants to call them
that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying,
Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my
fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5. But they made light of it, and went their
ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6. And the remnant took his servants, and
entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7. But when the king heard thereof, he was
wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned
up their city.
8. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding
is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as
many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10. So those servants went out into the
highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good:
and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11. And when the king came in to see the guests,
he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest
thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him
hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall
be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14. For many are called, but few are chosen.
The
Pharisees Try to Trip JESUS Up by the Question of Taxes or Tribute to Caesar
Spring
30 AD, Monday, Jerusalem
Matthew
22.15-22, Mark 12.13-17, Luke 20. 20-26
Matthew 22 15.
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in
his talk.
Luke 20.20.
And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign
themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might
deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.
Render unto Caesar
that which Is Caesar's
Matthew 22. 16.
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, (to catch
him in his words) [70]saying,
Master[71],
we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of GOD in truth, neither carest thou for any man:
for thou regardest not the person of men.
Matthew 22. 17.
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto
Caesar[72],
or not?[73](Shall
we give or not?)[74]
18. But JESUS perceived their wickedness[75]
(hypocrisy)[76],
and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites[77]?
19. Shew me the tribute money (penny[78])[79].
And they brought unto him a penny[80].
20. And He saith unto them, Whose is this image
and superscription?[81]
AΩ 21.
They say unto him, Caesar's[82].
Then saith He unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things [83]which
are Caesar's; and unto GOD the things that are GOD's.[84]
22. When they had heard these words, they
marvelled, (and held their peace) [85]and
left him, and went their way.
Sadducees
Question the Resurrection
Spring
30 AD, Monday, Jerusalem
Matthew
22.23-33, Mark 12.18-27, Luke 20. 27-40
Exodus 3. 6.
Moreover he said, I AM the GOD of
thy FATHER, the GOD of
Abraham, the GOD of
Isaac, and the GOD of
Jacob. And Moses hid
his face; for he was afraid to look upon GOD.
Matthew 22. 23.[86] The same day came to him the Sadducees,
which say that there is no resurrection[87],
and asked him,[88]
24. Saying, Master[89],
Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his
brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.[90]
Matthew 22. 25.
Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had
married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26. Likewise the second also, and the third,
unto the seventh.[91]
27. And last of all the woman died also.
28. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife
shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.[92]
29. JESUS answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not
knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of GOD.[93]
AΩ 30. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in
marriage, but are as the angels of GOD in Heaven.
Luke 20.34.
And JESUS answering said unto them, The children of
this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35. But they which shall be accounted worthy to
obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are
given in marriage:
AΩ
36. Neither can they die any more: for
they are equal unto the angels[94];
and are the children of GOD, being the children
of the resurrection.
Matthew 22. 31.
But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read (in the Book of Moses) [95]that
which was spoken unto you by GOD, (how in the bush
GOD spake unto him)[96]
saying,
AΩ
Matthew 22. 32. I am the GOD of Abraham,
and the GOD of Isaac, and the GOD of Jacob? GOD is not the GOD of the dead, but of the living. (for all live
unto Him)[97]
Mark 12.27 …ye therefore do greatly err.
Matthew 22. 33.
And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine[98].
Luke 20. 39.
Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master[99],
thou hast well said.
40. And after that they durst not ask him any
question at all.

Matthew 22. 33.

34. But when the Pharisees had heard that he had
put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
Matthew
22.35. Then one of them, which was a
lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36. Master[100],
which is the great commandment in the law?[101]
37. JESUS said unto him, (Hear O Israel, The LORD thy GOD is One LORD) [102]Thou
shalt love the LORD thy GOD with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind.(and with all thy strength.).[103]
Matthew 22. 38.
This is the first and great commandment.[104]
39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour as thyself.[105]
40. On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
Mark 12.31. There is none other commandment greater
than these.
Mark 12.32.
And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master[106],
thou hast said the truth: for there is one GOD; and there is none
other but He:
33. And to love him with all the heart, and with
all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to
love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and
sacrifices.
AΩ 34.
And when JESUS saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto
him, Thou art not far from the Kingdom of GOD. And no man after
that durst ask him any question.

Matthew 22.41. 41. While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
Mark 12. 35b.

For David himself said by the HOLY GHOST (in the Book of Psalms)[108],
The LORD said to my LORD, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies[109]

JESUS'
Last Sermon: Hell and Brimstone
Spring
30 AD, Monday, Jerusalem
Matthew
23. 1-39, Mark 12.38-40, Luke 20.45-47
Luke 20. 45.
Then in the audience of all the people He said unto his disciples,
46. Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk
in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the
synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
47. Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew[113]
make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.[114]
Matthew 23. 1.
Then spake JESUS to the multitude, and to his disciples,
2. Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in
Moses' seat:
3. All therefore whatsoever they bid you
observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say,
and do not.
4. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to
be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move
them with one of their fingers.
5. But all their works they do for to be seen
of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their
garments,
6. And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and
the chief seats in the synagogues,
7. And greetings in the markets, and to be
called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
AΩ 8.
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master[115],
even CHRIST; and all ye are brethren[116].
AΩ Matthew 23.9. And call no man your FATHER[117]
upon the earth: for one is your FATHER, which is in HEAVEN.
AΩ 10.
Neither be ye called masters[118]:
for one is your Master[119],
even CHRIST.
11. But he that is greatest among you shall be
your servant[120] .
12. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be
abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
AΩ Woes to Hypocrites!
Matthew
23.13. But woe unto you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men: for ye neither go in
yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer:
therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
15. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is
made, ye make him twofold more the child of Hell [121]than
yourselves.
16. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say,
Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear
by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
17. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater,
the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
18. And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it
is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
Matthew
12.19. Ye fools and blind: for whether
is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
20. Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar,
sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21. And whoso shall swear by the temple,
sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22. And he that shall swear by Heaven, sweareth
by the throne of GOD, and by him that
sitteth thereon.
23. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the
weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to
have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and
swallow a camel.
25. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but
within they are full of extortion and excess.
26. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that
which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean
also.
27. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear
beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all
uncleanness.
28. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous
unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the
sepulchres of the righteous,
30. And say, If we had been in the days of our
fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the
prophets.
31. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves,
that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how
can ye escape the damnation[122] of
Hell[123]?
34. Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets,
and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some
of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to
city:
35. That upon you may come all the righteous
blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the
temple and the altar.
36. Verily I say unto you, All these things
shall come upon this generation.
37. O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto
thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen
gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38. Behold, your house is left unto you
desolate.
AΩ 39. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me
henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the
LORD.

Mark 12. 41.
And JESUS sat over against the treasury, and beheld how
the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42. And there came a certain poor widow, and she
threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43. And He called unto him his disciples, and
saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in,
than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44. For all they did cast in of their abundance;
but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
It's Not How Much You Give but
How Much You Have Left Over After You Give
Luke 21. 1.
And He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2. And He saw also a certain poor widow casting
in thither two mites[124].
3. And He said, Of a truth I say unto you, that
this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4. For all these have of their abundance cast
in unto the offerings of GOD: but she of her
penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth
for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as
never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy
people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Matthew 24. 1.
And JESUS went out, and departed from the temple: and
his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mark 13.1 And as He
went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master[125],
see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
The Beginning of Sorrows
Jeremiah 30.7.
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the
time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

3. And as He sat upon the mount of

and of the end of the world[130]?

CHRIST; and shall deceive many.[132]
Luke 21. 8b.and the time draweth near: go ye not
therefore after them.
Matthew 24. 23. [133]
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is CHRIST, or there; believe it
not.
24. For there shall arise false Christs, and
false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it
were possible, they shall deceive (seduce)[134]
the very elect[135].
25. Behold, I have told you before.
26. Wherefore if they shall say unto you,
Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret
chambers; believe it not.
Pre-Tribulation Rumors
of War
Matthew 24. 6.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours[136]
of wars (and commotions)[137]:
see that ye be not troubled (terrified) [138]
for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. (by and by)[139]. For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom[140] against
kingdom:[141]

Pre-tribulational Betrayals
Luke 21. 12.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute
you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought
before kings and rulers for my name's sake.[145]
13. And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate
before what ye shall answer:
15. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom,
which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luke 21. 16.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks,
and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
