Evidence: Where was JESUS In the Beginning?

Isaiah 44. 6.  Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Hebrews 1.1. GOD, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his SON, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;  3.  Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sin(s), sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;  4.  Being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Matthew 24. 32.  Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
 33.  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
 34.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
 35.  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
 36.  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

The generation Jesus is speaking of is this generation today, because we have seen the budding of the fig tree (Israel).    Read the Signs of the Times

Who is Jesus? The Armor of the King

The Armor of the King on the Cross

What kind of robe didst Thou wear on the cross- one of royalty?

Thou wast Royalty disrobed

Robing me with salvation free- Blessed Saviour!

And what of Thy crown worn on the cross?

What? A thorn-pierced brow

From a thorny crown!

Crowning me with salvation free, Blessed Saviour!

And what of thy feet that the Gospel preached?

Beautiful? Surely they would be.

Nail pierced! Nail pierced! For even me- nailing me into Thee on the Tree.

Nor even a shield nor armor bring

Nor thousands of angels to shield the KING

Alone! Forsaken! Why! Must that be?

Arming me with salvation free!- Blessed Saviour!

  • Who is Jesus? From Jesus in Isaiah by Don Giddens

    Jesus in the Book

    of the Prophet Isaiah- Summarized

    In Eternity Past

According to the Book of John , Jesus was the Word of God who lived in Eternity past, made the Heavens and the earth and all "that in them is" and came in flesh to dwell among us.  Isaiah speaks of the Word of God also.  The Word endures forever, accomplishs its purpose, will never leave us and will be taught in Jerusalem in Eternity. Thus,  the life of Jesus, the Word of God , is from Eternity past through Eternity future. From everlasting to everlasting.

His hands spanned the Heavens stretching them out like a curtain for His tent. He sits on the circle of the earth.

He weighed the mountains and the hills.

Was Jesus created? Isaiah gives the clearest answer in the Scriptures in Isaiah 43. "Before me there was no other God; after me there will be no other God." Thus, God the Son and God the Father were always ONE and always will be ONE. They are always mutually self-existent and co-existent.

Jesus was "from the beginning." Isaiah 48.

    True Prophets do not lie.

Jesus was a prophet also. He said,

"I and my Father are ONE."  If they are ONE they always were ONE and always will be ONE. Three in One.

The Name Elohim can only mean God, the God-Three (Father, Son and Spirit) in ONE.

The Spirit of God and His Christ is named in Isaiah as the Angel of the Lord who slew the Assyrians.  He is the Seven-fold Spirit in Isaiah as He is in Revelation.  1) The Spirit of God, 2) The Spirit of judgment and burning,  3) wisdom and understanding,  4) counsel and 5) might, 6) knowledge and  7) fear of the Lord.

From Creation to the First Coming

How did (or does) Jesus deal with nations from the Creation until He came to earth the first time?

Remember we are primarily relying  on the Prophet Isaiah in this summary and book.  There are many other things written in the Old Testament, Psalms, and the Four Gospels and New Testament about Jesus.

Isaiah has many examples of how Christ in God has dealt and will deal with nations and individuals.  Isaiah names many nations who suffered God's wrath because of their sin, how they treated the poor, widows, orphans, and worshipped false gods for example.

According to Isaiah this Messiah also was the One who gave Israel water  out of the rock.  Spiritually speaking He is our Rock, Strength and Salvation.  Thus, those who are thirsty go to Him, the weak find strength, the weary are renewed "mounting up with wings like an eagle". The brokenhearted, meek and sinful find He is their merciful, sufficient Suffering Savior.

The nations "Are a drop in the bucket". God raises them up and puts them down.  He gives them prosperity and poverty. He destroys their crops. Scatters them "tossing them like a ball" in His wrath. Anyone who has ever seen the results of a tornado, tsunami, earthquake or hurricane has thought the same whether or not they attributed it to the "hand of God."

His "ways are higher than our's" and it is through wrath that He remembers mercy.  Those He scatters He regathers with tears.

Israel in particular is the vineyard of God. He cares for it, protects it,  prunes it.  However, the Prophet Isaiah clearly states the Gentiles will see the Light of the Gentiles, Jesus.

Jerusalem is His dwelling place. He has defended it, and will defend it. According to the New Testament He walked there, ministered there, and died there. He is coming back to rule and reign there. "Jerusalem is the Apple of His eye." Jesus wept over it because they were like sheep without a shepherd.

He is Wisdom. He teaches our children, teaches farmers when and how to plant, teaches men to fight, men and women how to live.

He is the Lord of hosts. YHWH Adonay. Elohim. For centuries He has dealt with nations in mercy and wrath. He has scattered many nations.  He will reagather a few, namely Assyria, Egypt and Israel, a confederacy,  "the peeled of the earth."

What about the other nations not named in the Bible? Did they have any proof there was a God who loved them? Who hated sin? Who forgave? Who was steadfast and dependable?

The Bible says the Heavens declare His glory. Every drop of rain showed His mercy, drought His wrath. Rain, again, His mercy. The seasons told of death and resurrection. The skies declared His glory, Eternity, power and love.

From time to time His wrath was revealed. But His mercy was always greater.

Although the scrolls of Isaiah were hidden in a hillside cave  for four thousand years the God of Isaiah was visible everyday.

Every morning and evening, every new day, bird, flower, and form of life preached His mercy, power, love and grace.

He is One. He knows the end from the beginning. He knew us before we were born. The Messiah God, Jesus, is All- knowing (Omniscient) All-powerful (Omnipotent), and All-present (Omnipresent).  Jesus is One with the Father and Spirit. All through Isaiah this fact is proven.  Adown, Adonay, Jehovah, JHWH, God, Ab the Father, the Creator, the Savior, the Lord of hosts are all One.

Someday Israel will truly know His Name.

Today, He is still  the Stone of stumbling to the nation as a whole. Though He is their Cornerstone, the foundation of time and eternity,  He is still rejected by His Chosen people.

They had signs proving He was God the Savior. He made the sun go backwards. The greatest sign was His resurrection from the dead.

The First Coming of the Christ (Messiah)

The Prophet Isaiah said that the Messiah would be of the Root of David, the Promised Seed and seed of Judah and Jacob. Of course, the genealogies in Matthew and Luke prove that.

Infinitely greater the voice of God booming out from Heaven,  prove Him- "This is my Beloved Son. Hear ye Him" proved He was God in on earth, God in flesh.

Even the little children and the blind men knew Jesus was the "Son of David."  The little children threw branches on the path of Jesus when He went through the gates of Jerusalem on a donkey. The blind man exclaimed, "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me." Isaiah said the Messiah would be the Branch of David.  The blind man knew Him.

As a child I knew by the sandstorms in West Texas that the wrath of God was to be feared:  then, the gentle rains convinced me there is mercy and forgiveness and a new day.

Born in Bethlehem- Immanuel (God with us)

He was to  born of a virgin and He was.  Isaiah calls Him, Anointed. The Name, Christ, means Anointed.  He was anointed to take away the sin of the world. The Name Jesus means "God is Savior."

The Earthly ministry of Jesus in Galilee

Isaiah nine gives us the location of the Messiah's ministry on earth- Galilee, Napthali, Zion.

He is coming, said Isaiah, to heal the brokenhearted, comfort Zion, call the lame, the blind and the deaf.

    Isaiah 61. 1.  The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

     2.  To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

     3.  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Isaiah 61 says that the Spirit of the LORD rests on the Messiah. When Jesus was on earth He read this in the temple, closed the scroll, and said, "This day this is fulfilled in your ears."  He is the "springs of Living Water." Isaiah says He is our Strength, Song, and  Salvation.  Sing to Him. Call upon His Name.

Isaiah said the Messiah would be our Shepherd. Jesus said He was the Good Shepherd who gives His life for the sheep.  The Bible calls Christ the Good Shepherd, the Chief Shepherd, and the Great Shepherd.  In particular He is the Shepherd of Israel and of all believers.

Over and over in the New Testament it is recorded that Jesus did exactly what prophets had predicted :

He told us we were sinners needing a Savior. He told us "all our righteousnesses were as filthy rags" in different words.

If we thought we could see, we were blind. If we heard we were deaf.  He said the flesh profited nothing; the Spirit gave life. He said He was Light, Life, and the Bread thereof.

He named our sins and called us to repentance.

And then, He was crucified for our sins.

    The Crucifixion and Resurrection

Jesus came to earth to serve and to suffer and to save.  The Prophet  Isaiah described His crucifixion in minute detail.  Isaiah says that only God is Savior. Thus, since Jesus is the Savior we know He is God.

When He healed the sick, raised the dead, healed the lame and the blind, walked on water, knew men's thoughts, He proved He was God.

Then, in Jerusalem, on Golgatha's hill, the exact location of the Temple, Mount Zion, and where Abraham offered up Isaac Jesus died. Abraham told Isaac "My son, God will provide HIMSELF a lamb for an offering". He did that when Jesus, God Himself in flesh, Immanuel,  died for the sin of mankind.

Isaiah says He was Mighty to save, the only Savior, the Key to the House of David.  Isaiah said He invites us to be saved. The invitation in Isaiah is extended to the Gentiles. Jesus is the promised Light of the Gentiles.

    Crucified! Isaiah 52, 53

He set His face like a flint and gave His back to the smiters. His visage was marred more than any man. He was despised and rejected, a Man of sorrows. Wounded for our transgressions. By His stripes we are healed. There was no beauty in Him that we should desire Him. We hid our faces from Him; He bore our chastisement. He was bruised for our iniquities.  He sprinkled the nations (with His blood.)

Nailed to the cross He was the "nail in a sure place."  "He was numbered with the transgressors."

He purged Israel's sins. Isaiah 1, 27. Removed them all in one day- Isaiah 22.

He redeemed  us without money. Isaiah 52.

He became our Righteousness. Isaiah 54.

He "roared out of Zion."  "IT IS FINISHED.

Thus, He "poured out His soul unto death."

    Behold, thy God![1]

Then, He made His grave with the rich.  And after that-

    He arose!

Isaiah 25 says He "swallowed up death in victory" a thought that has resounded  throughout the Bible and the life of redeemed man.   Every time we lay one of our loved ones in the grace we think of the victory Jesus won over death when He rose again.

He arose, and because of that we know that we will rise again also.

When He died on the cross He was God.  When He rose again that was the sign,  the ultimate proof that He was God, the Resurrection and the Life.

When He died He removed the veil between Holy God and sinful man.  Jews and Gentiles. He is the "Light of the Gentiles". He arose and "cast all our sin behind His back". He "blotted out all our trangressions." Never to remember them any more.  "Righteousness rolled "like the waves of the sea."

Isaiah says we should call upon His Name. Lift up our eyes to Him. Sing unto Him.

"He pours out His Spirit upon us."  He is our Comforter, Counselor, and Friend. He will go with us thorugh the waters or the fire.

    Meanwhile, until He comes again

We wait for Him. He is our Strength, Song and Salvation.

When we are faint He renews our strength because He is our strength. " Isaiah 40. 31.  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Down here on earth God is stil running things.  That should not be a surprise. He still sets up kingdoms and takes them down.

He, and He alone feeds six billion people, numberless birds and animals everyday out of His storehouse.

Everyday His tears drop to earth.  Today He may be riding on a "swift cloud to Egypt" or Iran or Texas.  God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He shakes, terrifies, and saves people everyday.  He wept over Moab and Jerusalem and weeps over Darfur or Las Vegas.

Yet, He still "frustrates liars and drives diviners mad.[2]

When a nation is due for punishment because of their sin, He "hisses for the fly and the bee", adversaries and hypocrites to punish them.  Matthew 18. 34.  And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 35.  So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Americans  fought each other  and died to end slavery or protect state's rights.   Some of us fought against Mexico on Mexican soil and  Texas. Yet, after generations we still feel no forgiveness from those whom we offended, and have not forgiven some who offended us.  Many Christians have never forgiven their Christian neighbors who were on one side or the other.

Will we have to have the "tormentors"  sent to our soil because of unforgiveness?  Are they on their way now?

Will God take away the hedge of protection? [3]

God has a plan for the nations. Sodom and Gomorrah were no worse than Israel said Isaiah.

We have killed untold millions of our own babies. Are we better than Nazist Germany who killed six million Jews?

We had better heed the fact-  God has a plan and it is in place.

The Regathering of Israel: the Zionist Movement?

In our generation we have seen the regathering of God's chosen people, the Jews, to Israel. This is the beginning but only the beginning of  the regathering of Israel by the Lord.

Isaiah has much to say about the Regathering of Israel. God scattered them through the centuries but He will regather them one by one. They  will see their enemies carrying "our  children back to us on their shoulders".

God commiserated with Israel and us. "In all their afflictions, He was afflicted." Whatever happened to Israel through the centuries He suffered with them.  The brokenhearted are always near His throne.  He is their Comforter. He gives "beauty for ashes".

He will gather "the scattered and the peeled" back to their own land where He will live with them.

The Second Return of the Messiah[4]

Jesus will came back to earth, His feet touch the Mount of Olives which will split in two. He will come back to defend Israel  when they are surrounded by their enemies. According to the Prophets He will turn "their arrows back on His enemies."  He will muster His army.  He will "pour out the cup of His fury". "

    The Day of the Lord

Jesus will come back with a vengeance. His enemies will be consumed by fire.  The heavens will be dissolved.

The Day He comes back is called the Day of the LORD.

In the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ  (the Apocalypse) this is called the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb, Armageddon."

Isaiah says He will tread the winepress alone speaking of the winepress of His wrath.  He will destroy His enemies with the sword of His mouth and blood will be as deep as horses' bridles for 200 miles or so in the Valley of Megiddo or 'Armageddon. Many other details of the Day of the Lord are in the Bible.

The sun, stars and moon are darkened. JHWH shakes the earth. It "reels like a drunkard."  He stretches His hand over the sea and shakes the islands.

The Day of the Lord is imminent. He will blow His trumpet to declare it.

The Millennial Reign of the Messiah

Finally there will be peace in Jerusalem, His bride. "Peace like a river" will become a reality when King Jesus rules and reigns forever on the Throne of David.  His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom: His throne an everlasting throne.

The wolf and the lamb will lay down together in peace in Zion.

There will be peace and prosperity forever.

There will be no more war.  The Dragon will be defeated. In the Book of Revelation the Devil, the Dragon, will be chained in Hell for a thousand years- the Millenium.

There will be a Highway out of Egypt where the Nations will come to worship the True God and His Son, One, in the New Jerusalem.  Spiritually speaking that Highway is  Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. [5]

Righteousness will flow like the waves of the sea.

Mountains, trees and hills praise Him.

"The Lord alone will be exalted in that day."

    Eternity Future

"The Mountain of the Lord will be at the top of the mountains".

Mount Zion will be the centre of worship, God's house. His tabernacle. He will dwell or tabernacle among us.

The redeemed of all nations, languages, kindreds and tongues will delight in Him, worship Him, sing praise to Him for Eternity. They will come to hear His Word taught in Jerusalem  and serve Him, Israel, and the redeemed.

We "shall see the King in His beauty" said Isaiah. John said when we see Him we shall be made like Him for we shall see Him as He is." When we see Him we will be transformed "metamorphisized".  Oh, to be like Him.

Isaiah speaks of the King several times. The Jews did not know He was not to be the King when He first came to earth, but the second.  He came first to die for mankind. He will return to Mount Zion to rule and reign in peace for Eternity.

In Isaiah 6.5 the Lord of hosts is the King, and King Jesus  because in Isaiah nine He is the Child, a Son who is Almighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace sitting on the throne of David
