The Armor of the King on the Cross
What kind of robe didst Thou wear on the cross- one of royalty?
Thou wast Royalty disrobed
Robing me with salvation free- Blessed Saviour!
And what of Thy crown worn on the cross?
What? A thorn-pierced brow
From a thorny crown!
Crowning me with salvation free, Blessed Saviour!
And what of thy feet that the Gospel preached?
Beautiful? Surely they would be.
Nail pierced! Nail pierced! For even me- nailing me into Thee on the Tree.
Nor even a shield nor armor bring
Nor thousands of angels to shield the KING
Alone! Forsaken! Why! Must that be?
Arming me with salvation free!- Blessed Saviour!
