May I suggest this manner of discipline:

Set boundaries for your children
Tell them the exact actions you will take if they break the confidence "Three licks" No more.
Tell them when they have broken the rule and administer the discipline in love as follows-

a. Have them kneel over their bed

b. Give them three licks as promised

c. Kneel down with your arm around them and assure them of your love and forgiveness.

d. Pray with them as they ask the Lord for forgiveness.

Raise them up in church

Psalm 122.1. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
